How Is NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Used In The Classroom?

How Can NLP Benefit Children?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming for children has many benefits. Teachers who learn this modality will be more effective in the classroom in relation to communication. Children with conditions such as depression, dyslexia, peer pressure, and many others. NLP can assist in alleviating  these symptoms and help boost self-confidence.

NLP for children is not an all-purpose solution; instead, it focuses on finding flexible strategies that suit each child and their unique needs.

Learning can generally be defined as the process of acquiring knowledge. To obtain this knowledge, children must process information, and NLP focuses specifically on the different methods that the children can do this.

One facet of NLP that is typically an accepted practice in a majority of schools rests on the theory that children favour different learning styles.

These fall into three categories:

– Visual learning

– Kinaesthetic

– Auditory learning

However, note that learning styles are not limited to only these three categories, and a child’s favoured learning style may change in the future or depending on circumstances.

Therefore, a teacher implementing NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) in their classrooms will apply different techniques to spot the different preferred learning styles of each student. They will then adjust their teaching style and learning materials to make sure that all students have the best opportunity to take in information.

How Can NLP Help Children learn?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques change the focus from simple cramming of information to developing rudimental sensory processes to embed learning into the children’s subconscious mind, hence having far more longevity.

Other NLP techniques involve the use of metaphors and visualisation, which can often be seen in sports psychology, where they are used to boost an athlete’s performance. Similarly, teachers could use different responses to different situations and apply these methods to change a child’s negative mindset.

There are several NLP tools that can come in handy in helping children surpass their learning limitations. Methods such as ‘Learning state’ and ‘Anchoring’ can also be used to help a child improve their concentration and learn practical ways to deal with stress and anxiety. Such tools have been seen to boost confidence in students. As a result, children welcome learning, which in turn translates to better results.

NLP Coaching Versus Life Coaching

Wednesday, February 19th, 2020

There is so much NLP Coaching training has to offer than regular life coaching training. Apart from that, it also helps you achieve lasting results and greater success.

In today’s modern world where anxiety, overwhelm, and stress is commonplace, more people need coaching and guidance to achieve excellence and become better versions of themselves.

Life coaching goes a long way in helping people identify the things that keep them from achieving the outcomes they desire.

Apart from helping you recognise your roadblocks; NLP Coaching will also help you delve deeper to identify some of the things that block your path, and which, when removed, will result in more profound transformations. At the end of it all, NLP Coaching will offer you greater opportunities for success and pathways to living a more fulfilled life.

Where Life Coaching is Blocked, NLP Coaching Will Succeed

In most cases, the things that block your success are generally internal and hard to identify. Most of them are deeply-rooted in your unconscious mind and have strong emotional anchors that hold them firmly in place. And that’s where life coaching has its limits.

Let’s say, for example, that you have noted that you lack the self-esteem to establish your own business or the confidence to negotiate a pay rise – what next?

No amount of standard life coaching skills or good intentions will help you build the confidence or esteem you need to take the next major step.

Such issues will require you to release all of the negative emotions that hold you back, which are often in the form of anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt.

This is where NLP Coaching makes all the differences and allows you to effect permanent changes that make it easier for you to achieve your desired goals.

NLP Coaching teaches you how to go about identifying the things that block your success and how you can let go of all the negative emotions that hold you back.

With so many tools to work with, you’ll have an easier time removing your barriers and creating a compelling and clear path that allows you to fulfil all of your desires and goals quickly and effortlessly.

5 Health Benefits Of Hypnosis

Friday, January 24th, 2020

Insomnia and struggling to fall asleep.

Hypnosis can be used to trigger a sense of mental relaxation, thus promoting sleep. This is particularly important for individuals with conditions such as insomnia and trouble falling and staying asleep. The hypnosis practitioner uses verbal cues to put the client in a trance stage.  One of the advantages of hypnotherapy is that the client can fall asleep while in session, and even fall asleep quickly and without struggle even after going home. Anxiety

Hypnosis, among other relaxation techniques, can be used to help ease anxiety.

How does it work: This method works by inducing natural relaxation response through nonverbal or verbal cues, slow breathing, instilling a sense of wellbeing, and lowering blood pressure. It is by tapping into these that once can slowly overcome anxiety hence live a healthy life.

Weight Release.

Many people who have weight issues often struggle with sticking to diets however they have also formed bad habits in regard to eating.

How does this work: Hypnosis helps the client change their bad eating habits so that they can make healthier choices on a subconscious level, to the point where foods they once craved no longer have an effect.

Chronic Pains

Chronic pains can be debilitating.  If you have been suffering from chronic pains, either after a surgery, tension headaches, and migraines, hypnosis might be of help.

How it works: Hypnosis helps give you more self-control over pain by making it possible to cope with the same. Several hypnosis sessions are, however required for this to be effective in the long run.

Quitting Smoking

While it may be hard to leave this habit, working with a hypnotherapist can help you stop.

How it works:

One should have the need and drive to want to quit for this to work. There are two ways in which hypnotherapy can work. First, you need to find an effective replacement habit, and a healthy habit instead of smoking. The second step will be to train your mind to think of the adverse effects and undesirable feelings associated with smoking.

The Cause of Negative Emotions and Beliefs

I see so many clients who are carrying pain, trauma and limiting beliefs from their past. So much of their emotional pain is from their conditioning or programming. From the ages of 0-7 these are the ages that we feel ANGER, SADNESS, FEAR, HURT and GUILT for the very first time. It is also during this period that children don’t have the ability to question therefore the experiences they have, the way they are raised and the things that happen to them are ingrained within them and these experiences often play out later in life.

If a small child is constantly told to “BE QUIET” “SHUT UP” “ BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD” what experience will that child carry forward? They take on that programming and more than likely that child will not speak up, will believe that their words or opinion is not important. They will be afraid to speak their truth.

I have had clients who have witnessed and been part abusive family relationships at this age. What plays out is that in their adult life the cycle continues again because of their conditioning therefore leading to their own abusive relationships.

When a child does not feel valued by the adults in their life it plays out with low self esteem, no self worth and in some cases looking for love in all the wrong places.
When a child is a victim of sexual abuse this can sometimes play out as a teenager seeing sex as love. Then an adult going from partner to partner to partner seeking love however not knowing what it feels like to actually have true love in their life.

How MMNLP Can Help

This is where the power of Time Line Therapy ® comes in. When we work with a client using this modality it allows the client to clear out all negative emotions and attachment to past events that have a tight grip on who they are presently.

We don’t heal the event, we heal the emotions around it. This IS NOT REGRESSION THERAPY. By using Time Line Therapy ® the client is able to look at past events from a new perspective in such a way that the learnings are far greater than the actual event. This allows the client to step into certainty from uncertainty.

When a client can speak about their past and have no emotional attachment or physiological response then you know that they are well and truly healed.

NLP Coaching vs Other Therapies

What is NLP Coaching?

Our Job as a coach is to help our clients in such a way that they make us redundant. You may ask what does that mean? Well it means that you serve them in such a way that they get the results they are after and then we send them on their way. As a coach of NLP and practitioner of Time Line Therapy® we work differently to your traditional therapies.

In my time as a coach, practitioner and trainer I have seen many clients who had previously been in therapy or counselling year after year after year. My question here is “for what purpose?” I remember earlier this year I had a beautiful woman come to see me with the view of doing some work with me. She shared that she had been in and out of counselling and psychotherapy for over twenty years with no real resolve to her problems. When I shared with her the way I work she asked “ do you really think you can help me?” My answer, Absolutely! It was just about getting to the root cause of her problem. I was going to question her differently without keeping her stuck in her story week after week on repeat. The beautiful thing was that when we started with her first session she acknowledged that she had never been questioned in this way. Which quickly allowed her to get in touch with her emotions. She also shared that she always kept her emotions well hidden however with me it just wasn’t possible. I remember her words with tears streaming down her face she said “what is this magic, nobody has ever asked me that?” The release was incredible and the healing had started.

The sad thing is that I have seen this time and time again. Now in saying this, I do agree that these traditional therapies have their place however the way an NLP coach works is somewhat different.

The Difference from Traditional Therapy

In traditional therapy it is all about working with a patient we work with clients. In therapy the patient is asked WHY? Our clients are asked HOW, WHAT and WHAT IF. In asking WHY it gives the opportunity for reasons or excuses not results. HOW, WHAT and WHAT IF allows for more content not the structure or the process.

We are interested in our clients present and we work toward helping them to create a compelling future. It is also with this understanding that in order to create the future you must say goodbye once and for all to the past obstacles. This is not solely about working with a client’s past trauma or traumatic events to heal those events.

It is also important to understand that as an NLP Coach we DO NOT focus on our client being broken and needing fixing. We focus on my client being healthy and capable of making positive change. The focus is on actions, outcomes and processes.

We will not focus on old pain or having our client reliving past trauma. Our work is to help our client discover processes that are present to prevent them from achieving their goals and to also empower them to new ways of thinking and looking at their model of the world.

We do not go about fixing the client by understanding and fixing their past, in our work it is about understanding their past as a framework for the present and creating an amazing future.

Our clients are transformed without living in their story week after week, year after year.

If I ever come across a client who I feel I cannot help I happily refer them on to someone who can.

How Time Line Therapy Can Improve Your Sleep

Wednesday, November 6th, 2019

Do you find yourself rolling around in bed for hours, unable to sleep?

No matter how tired you are and how many sheep you count — you just can’t fall asleep. Or maybe you’re on the other end of the spectrum — you have no trouble falling asleep, but staying asleep is the problem.

While there are solutions to this problem like sleeping pills and other forms of medication, those are just masking the root problem and attacking it from a surface level.

Why not opt for a natural solution that doesn’t leave you dependent on medication instead?

Before we dive into the details of Time Line Therapy and how it can help you sleep, it’s important to first understand…

What causes poor sleep?

For most people, the inability to sleep properly is caused by their state of mind and how it affects their emotions.

Do any of these sound familiar to you?

– You have an important meeting the next day and you can’t stop stressing about what you plan to say
– Flashbacks of an embarrassing moment replay in your head and leave you wanting to bang your head against your headboard
– General stress from work and everyday life leaves you rolling around in bed and kicking your legs all night

Basically, if you’re not in the right state of mind and have any emotional imbalances such as stress, anxiety, or even anger — you’re not going to be sleeping well at night, period.

How Time Line Therapy helps you sleep

Time Line Therapy helps you let go of all this negativity and allows you to sleep peacefully at night.

By floating over your timeline and pinpointing the exact triggers of your stress and anxiety, we can help you let go of those moments and move forward stress-free.

Once you have moved past your negativity, you’ll find yourself falling asleep more easily at night, wake up less during the night, and enjoying more energetic days.

Mindfulness – How to Quieten Your Mind

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019

When you learn to quieten your mind the benefits can be life changing.

In modern society everything happens at a fast pace, everything we want is at our finger-tips, everything is instant. There is no time to wait, people have lost the sense of delayed gratification (especially children)

How would you like to be able to quieten your mind, respond rather than react, let go of judgement, say goodbye to ego, learn to live in the now and be present? With mindfulness this is all available to you.

Mindfulness can easily become a daily practice. Those who practice  feel calmer and grounded, have clear thinking and can easily respond to certain situations rather than reacting.

Practicing Mindfulness can reduce stress and anxiety, there can also be less depressive symptoms, improved self-esteem and sleep quality.

Mindfulness is about being present, living in the now. Deliberately paying attention to what and who is around you, paying attention to what is also happening within you and also having an awareness in all moments of your day to day life. It is also about accepting whatever experiences you have.

Being mindful involves bringing an attitude of curiosity, acceptance and friendliness to whatever is experienced, rather than habitual patterns of judgment and criticism.

When we are not being attentive or really focused our brain actually switches to a default mode. This is characterised by mind wandering behaviour, mental chatter, dwelling on the past, worrying about the future, judgement and criticism of self and others. When in these patterns we are experiencing the world through thoughts and ideas rather than directly through our senses, unfortunately this can sometimes lead to mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety and depression etc.

In contrast, when we pay attention deliberately to who we are with and what we are doing we engage a different part of the brain, primarily the prefrontal cortex regions. This allow us to experience things through our senses, we avoid all the worrying, criticism, judging, dwelling on things we cannot change and we respond  rather than react.

We have all experienced this at times while doing things we enjoy. Eg Being in nature, spending time with those we care about, doing the things that make our hearts sing and we really enjoy. It is in these moments that we are fully present and effortlessly engaged in our senses.

There are also 9 functions involving the prefrontal cortex that also may be impacted by mindfulness practice.

Body regulation: when our bodies are regulated our levels of energy and alertness are appropriate to the setting.

Insight: Self knowing awareness, sense of self. Key to growing positive social connection.

Attuned Communication with others: Resonance. When we can tune into ourselves it allows us to tune in to others.

Empathy: Allows us to see from another`s reality or perspective.

Emotional Balance or Regulation: When emotions are properly regulated our life has meaning. When emotions are overactive, we tend to become overwhelmed and emotionally imbalanced. When emotions are not active we may sense that life has no meaning.

Fear modulation: the ability to calm and soothe and sometimes unlearn our fears.

Response Flexibility: the ability to stop and think being doing or taking action, having the opportunity to consider all options and choose flexibility. Move beyond the old habitual responses

Intuition: Access awareness of the wisdom of the body. Intuitive intelligence can influence and inform our reasoning.

Morality: Looking at the bigger picture, taking into consideration what is best for others and not just ourselves.

As mindfulness practitioners and facilitators Carol and Luke have seen the benefits of this practice. Especially in children, we have seen firsthand how mindfulness can impact a child especially those who find it a challenge to concentrate.

Students can easily learn to apply mindfulness to all daily experiences. These include

  • Mindful Listening
  • Mindful Breathing
  • Mindful Seeing
  • Mindful Movement
  • Mindfulness of thoughts
  • Mindfulness of Emotions
  • Mindful test taking.
  • Heartfulness: Cultivation of positive states, kindness, generosity and gratitude.

How many times have you been in the effect of a person or a situation that has happened in your life?

Have you ever been in a situation that hasn’t turned out the way you planned?

Has someone hurt you?

Has someone wronged you?

Have you had a dream or goal that didn’t quite work out?

These situations are events that happen in life. Unfortunately, when negative events occur so people tend to allow circumstance to stop them moving forward.
When we are in EFFECT of life, we are allowing our life to be controlled by these outside forces.

When you are in EFFECT you are blaming others for your current circumstances.

My life is like this is because …………… did this to me?

I haven’t achieved my dreams because……………happened.

I can`t …………….. because it`s so and so`s fault my life is like this.

I`ll never be able to achieve…………because…………..happened to me.

So and so wrecked my life.

I can`t have what I want because of my background, my family, the economy, the government, my education etc..

These are all reasons or excuses but seriously, when you are 60, 70 or 80 how valuable will these excuses be?

When you are at CAUSE for all that has happened in your life it allows you to to move forward.

Being at CAUSE means that you are able to step into a place of ownership to all that has happened in your life, the good, the bad and the ugly. You are able to acknowledge the part that you played in whatever the circumstance was.

Being at cause allows you to take responsibility for every choice in life that you have ever made.

There is power in that……

It is important to understand that if something unpleasant happens to you it may not necessarily be your fault. However, if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time which resulted in something happening. You can be at cause for being there however not the incident.

The sum total of your conscious choices plus your unconscious choices put you where you are today.

NLP: Does It Really Work?

Wednesday, September 18th, 2019

Your thoughts manipulate your actions.

If this statement is acceptable to you, then NLP should make sense to you as well. The way you perceive the things around you, how you behave in response to these perceptions, and the way you communicate with other beings — these all affect your thoughts and your actions as a result.

What is NLP really?

While some people exaggerate the effects of NLP and equate it to supernatural powers, this is not the reality.

Neuro-linguistic Programming is simply the adjustment of thoughts to help an individual achieve their goals. By modelling what has been seen to be successful in the past, these are then used to set people in the right direction.

What are some examples of NLP?

If your goal is to improve your emotional health and overcome your feelings of anxiety, stress, or depression — NLP is a very powerful treatment for you.

In some cases, there are chemical imbalances in your brain that may cause these conditions. However, for most individuals feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression is caused by their thinking habits. For example, thoughts like “I’m not good enough”, or “I don’t deserve this” and other limiting beliefs may amplify these negative emotions.

While these are subconscious thoughts, NLP treatment can help change these negative patterns. By using techniques like dissociation and anchoring, you can instil positive beliefs to replace previously held negative beliefs.

Does NLP work for everyone?

Similar to hypnotherapy, NLP works best for individuals who are open to it. If you’re very against the idea, it becomes difficult to change your thought patterns.
But for most individuals, NLP is a powerful treatment for depression, anxiety, weight loss, and so much more. In most cases, patients will feel improvements within one session. However, receiving continuous treatment allows you to enjoy long-term results.
